Education and Community Coordinator 

Slough Farm is a 45-acre working farm and non-profit foundation located in Edgartown, MA, on the island of Martha’s Vineyard. In addition to practicing ecological agriculture, Slough Farm aims to become an educational hub supporting farmers, writers, artists, craftspeople, community organizers, and thinkers both on and off the island.   

The Education and Community Coordinator will support the planning, implementation, and evaluation of educational and community programs at Slough Farm. They work closely with the Program Director to ensure the smooth functioning of programs aimed at enhancing educational opportunities and fostering community engagement. This role involves administrative tasks, program coordination, and community outreach. The Education and Community Coordinator will be responsible for working with the Islands School System and creating educational, agricultural, and arts programming through field trips and classroom learning.  A large part of their role will be to build on existing relationships with community-based organizations and the island school systems to help create meaningful programs that meet local needs. 

What You’ll Do:

  • Managing the weekly/year-round ongoing programs

  • Sending and tracking the use of space and release forms for guests, residents, and instructors

  • Managing and coordinating field trips

    • Working closely with other Island educators.

  • Creating educational programming integrated with the public school system.

  • Help maintain relationships with local community organizations and find ways that Slough Farm programs can support the ongoing work of educators on the island.

  • Communicating weekly events and calendar to ensure the entire Slough Farm team is updated and informed about ongoing and upcoming programs

  • Coordinate and create social media posts.

  • Manage website program offerings, website event calendar, and program registrations

  • Coordinate and assemble monthly newsletter and manage subscribers

  • Managing farmhouse and office supply inventory and ordering

  • Work closely with the Program Director in coordinating programs. Responsibilities might include, but would not be limited to: 

    • Being on-site for evening and weekend programming. 

    • Assisting with the inflow of use of space requests. 

    • Assisting instructors with children’s afterschool programs
