Laine was Slough Farms first employee, coming on in spring of 2016 to help get the garden established. Before transitioning to garden work he put 5 years in as a dairy farmer on island and also co managed the MV land banks herd of 200 goats. He is a jack of all trades lending a hand with anything on the farm from mechanics to chicken processing, but the compost is his pride and joy. Originally from Mendocino, California, Laine has been on the island since 2008 and spends his free time surfing, fishing, skiing, sailing and spending time with his wife Julie and kids Henry and Deirdre.
